2008 Investigations

03/07/08 - Undisclosed Location: Stover, MO

Experiences:

At the beginning of the investigation, one of the investigators used
dowsing rods which crossed several times.

Responses were mainly given to the investigator who first started asking
questions.

Responses stopped when the entire team was in the room.  They resumed
when several of the team exited.  They also waned at times as if tired.

Responses were registering on two K2 meters and a Tri-Field meter (with
audible alarm calibrated to sound at 2.0).

Debunking:

None.

K2 Response

This video shows some of the responses we got on the K2 meter (a meter
that detects electromagnetic fields) while attempting to communicate with
a spirit who is believed to be the former resident of the home.  We did an
EMF sweep before starting and over the whole area the readings only
ranged from 0.4 to 0.8.  We also tried two different K2 meters (one with a
constant-on switch and the other with a clip holding down the button
which eliminates human manipulation) and got responses on both meters.
So we know it wasn't one of the K2's failing.  Toward the end we also set
up a Tri-field Natural EMF meter which squeals when it detects natural
EMF fluctuations (it will not pick up things like electrical appliances, house
wiring, etc).

Experiences:

One investigator heard what sounded like a scream while she was in the
lobby

Lots of cold spots felt and clicking/tapping sounds heard.

One investigator smelled the odor of musty cigars.

One investigator was sitting with her flashlight held between her legs and
she felt something grab it and wiggle it a few times.

The four female investigators heard the sound of birds flying across the
room.  Two of them were sitting in the middle of the room, and the other
two were sitting about 30 feet away.  However, the two male
investigators (sitting about 10 to 15 feet from the latter two females)
didn't hear a thing.  Also, none of the recording devices picked it up.  A
stationary IR camera recording was disrupted for several minutes.

All six investigators were in one large room.  After about an hour of being
in there, one of them walked back into the hall and a door that had
previously been open was closed and latched.  No one heard the door close.

Lots of responses from EMF meters.

Debunking:

Claim:  Doors in the hallway on the 3rd. Floor closing for no apparent
reason.

Possible Explanation:  We found that when the outside doors on the 1st.
floor are opened, a significant amount of wind can come in, travel up the
stairs, and through the halls on the 3rd. floor.  If the wind catches the
doors just right, it's possible that it could close them.

Scream: An investigator was walking around the lobby when she heard
what sounded like a scream. She tried to find the source but couldn't. The
only other people on that floor were talking quietly in an office and the
rest of the group was on the 3rd floor. This scream was caught on both the
voice recorder and the camcorder she had with her.

Cry: About two minutes later, the voice recorder and camcorder both
picked up what sounds like a cry. The investigator did not hear this at the
time.

Scream: About two more minutes later (four minutes after the first
scream that the investigator heard), a second scream (which sounds eerily
similar to the first) was picked up on the voice recorder. However, the
investigator did not hear this
.

Scream

This is the video that coincides with one of the EVP's. An investigator was
walking around the lobby when she heard what sounded like a scream.
She tried to find the source but couldn't. The only other people on that
floor were talking quietly in an office and the rest of the group was on the
3rd  floor. This scream was caught on both the voice recorder and the
camcorder she had with her.

01/10/08 - Undisclosed Location: Warrensburg,
MO

Experiences:

Two investigators saw a shadow moving on the wall above a window.

Another investigator saw a shadow move across a window, but there was
nobody outside of the window and no cars driving by at that exact
moment.

One investigator felt a hand on her back and another one felt her shirt
being pressed against her back.

Three investigators felt cold spots that were significant enough to give
them goosebumps & chills.

Debunking:

Claim:  There have been several reports of lights being on in rooms on the
3rd floor of the building.  This floor is padlocked and not used.

Possible Explanation:  The hallway on that floor has security lights that
stay on all the time.  From the outside it can appear that lights are on in
the rooms when it's just the security lights.

Claim:  There have been reports of sounds such as water running, toilets
flushing, voices and banging sounds (like furniture being moved) coming
from the unused/locked down 3rd floor.

Possible Explanation:  The building has very old radiators that make an
assortment of unusual noises including banging pipes, hissing and water
gurgling.  These can be easily mistaken for some sounds people have
heard.

Claim:  Several of the staff members have reported very creepy and
uneasy feelings while on the 3rd floor.

Possible Explanation:  There are several places where the electrical lines
create high EMF emissions.  High levels of EMFs have been linked to
uneasy feelings, paranoia and hallucinations.  Also, it is an abandoned floor
that is no longer kept up.  There is paint peeling off the walls, floors that
are buckling, missing door hardware, lights that don't work, etc.  The
overall appearance adds to a creepy ambiance.

Claim:  There have been reports of cold spots.

Possible Explanation:  This is very old building and many of the windows
do not close all the way.  The heat from the radiators can make some
areas as hot as 91' F.  A breeze from a cracked window coupled with a hot
room can make one believe they are experiencing a cold spot.

01/05/08 - Undisclosed Location: Sedalia, MO

Experiences:

One of the investigators (who knew the home owner's deceased husband)
got three positive K-2 responses when he requested that the lights be lit
up.

Debunking:

None.

Audio

Sigh: The entire group is leaving the former bedroom of the spirit thought
to be haunting the residence. You'll hear what sounds like a female sigh. It
is not one of our investigators.

Orb

We believe this may possibly be an example of a true energy orb. At the
same time that the orb flies over the investigator's hand, the lights on the
K-2 meter light up. This is a good indicator that the orb is a ball of energy
rather than just a particle of dust or a bug.
