2011 Investigations

January 8, 2011
columbia, MO
Private Residence

This house was built in the 1960's.  Present occupants of the house are an uncle, his niece and her daughter.  This residence had extremely high levels of EMF due to wiring issues and pest repellent devices placed in several locations.  This could attribute to feelings of anxiety, being watched, etc.  There were reports of voices and other unexplained noises.
Personal Experiences
The investigators reported temperature fluctuations in the bedrooms of the niece and daughter.  Usually in investigations there is a temperature drop if an entity tries to manifest.  In this case, the temperature increased and darkness increased at the same time.  Shadows were also experienced, as well as feelings of being watched.
Debunking
The investigators believe that some of the occupants' experiences can relate to the extremely high levels of EMF.  Some of these readings were literally "off the chart."  The resulting "fear cage" can occur in some people.  (On returning for the reveal, the pest repellents had been removed and EMF levels were much lower.)
Audio
All of these EVP's were captured in the master bedroom.
Two of the investigators are using the voice box, and at the very end of the clip, another female voice whispers "hey."

This EVP is of a man, saying "get out."  It seems to be followed be the giggle of a little girl, which no children were present during the investigation.

The last EVP is a breath, which only one investigator heard during an EVP session.

Video
No video evidence was captured during the investigation.
conclusion
With the personal experiences and audio evidence collected, the investigators feel that there is some sort of paranormal activity occurring at this residence.  However, it is not malevolent and the occupants need to maintain their normal activities and control of their domain.

February 5, 2011
Blairstown Missouri
private residence
This residence was built in the 1860's or 1870's and is located several miles outside of Blairstown.  The present owners have discovered a treasure trove of historical items.  Old newspapers, magazines, original house documents, records and even personal items have been found in the attic.  The owners have reported seeing apparitions, hearing voices and other unexplained sounds and experienced cabinet doors opening, lights going off and on, etc.
Personal Experiences
The investigators felt that something was watching them from a distance.  However, they never felt threatened.  EMF levels were at constant acceptable levels during most of the investigation.  There was one occurrence that mystified the team.  The pellet heating stove in the dining room had been turned off by the investigators because of the noise level.  Nearly 45 minutes after the stove was completely off, the team noticed (via the DVR monitor at our command post) that the stove flared up.  This might be contributed to a normal function of the stove.  However, the owners were contacted and informed the team that the stove doesn't function in that manner (to their knowledge.)  Another unexplained occurrence happened about 5 minutes later when the lead investigator went into the dining room and asked whomever made the stove flare up to do it again.  Right on cue, the "turned off" stove flared up again.  The dining room is where many of the apparition sightings have taken place.  This also lead credence to one of the following audio clips.
Debunking
The layout of the house tends to let sound travel farther than one might suppose.  This could attribute to reports of voices and other sounds.
Audio
Although the team caught a lot of unknown thumping and breathing sounds, there were a few EVP's of voices.  The first EVP was captured during the initial walk through of the house.  This is the EVP that could tie in with the stove turning on later in the evening.

This EVP of a whisper was captured during an EVP session in an upstairs bedroom.  Two investigators actually heard it with their own ears, and you will hear them respond at the end.  It was not determined what was said.

Video
No video was captured during the investigation.
Conclusion
The team believes there is some evidence of paranormal activity.  However, to achieve more concrete evidence, a second investigation is warranted.

February 25, 2011
kingsville missouri
private residence

This residence is an earth-contact dwelling that was built in the 1960's or 1970's and is rather small.  This area of Johnson County saw many skirmishes, etc. during the Civil War.  The owners have experienced apparitions, voices, objects moving, electrical problems and attacks on their pets.  EMF levels were constant and average.
Personal Experiences
The investigative team had several occurrences of hearing whispers, rooms darkening and a feeling of being scrutinized.  One team member is rather sensitive to paranormal activity.  She had to leave the premises for a short period of time due to overwhelming uncomfortable feelings.
Debunking
Because of the small interior space, when a person speaks at low levels at one end of the house, it can be heard at the other end.
Audio
This EVP was captured while doing the initial set-up for the investigation.  The client had reported hearing a woman humming during the day, and we were able to catch a quick "hum" while placing our recorders.

This EVP was also captured prior to beginning the investigation.  One team member was walking around with a recorder when a man's whisper is heard saying, "Look at me."

This EVP of a man whispering "Hey!" was captured right at the beginning of the investigation.  Each team member separated and sat in different rooms, so no one was near this investigator when the EVP was recorded.  (This is best heard with earphones.)

The following EVP was also captured prior to the team beginning the investigation.  The team debated on what the woman is saying, but most agreed that it is either "up in here" or "I'm in here."  This EVP was so loud that it was overlooked upon first review!

Video
No video evidence was captured during the investigation.
Conclusion
With evidence collected and personal experiences, the investigative team believes there is paranormal activity present in the house.  A second investigation was completed on March 19, 2011 and any additional evidence will be posted soon.

March 12, 2011
St. Joseph, Missouri
Private Residence

This house is approximately 35 years old and located on the outskirts of town.  The clients have reported paranormal activity in the home for the last five years.  The younger daughter started talking with someone or something basically from the time the family moved in.  Apparitions of a woman and child have been seen by the family as well as hearing voices, hearing a child running and calling the mother, "Mommy".  The younger daughter has been pushed to the floor, objects have flown off the wall, other objects and disappeared and reappeared, etc.
Personal Experiences
The investigators felt as though they were being watched.  Unexplained noises were heard from time to time, the Tri-Field Meter went off in the master bedroom for no apparent reason and the trail camera took one photo when nobody was in the master bedroom.  (This possibly coincides with the Tri-Field incident.)
Debunking
Some of the claims of hearing voices could be attributed to the proximity of the house to the street where people could be heard talking as they were walking by.
Audio
The team captured many EVP's from the investigation, and most sounded like they came from the same female voice.
This EVP was captured in the guest bedroom.  It is a female voice, that the team believes states, "we live here."

This EVP was captured in the child's bedroom.  You will hear the lead investigator asking the entities to come forward, and to not hide from them, to which you will hear the female reply, "not hiding from you."

This EVP was also caught in the child's bedroom.  This one was not clear in what she states, but the team agreed that it sounded something like, "do you remember my name?..."   Some of us debated that she says a name at the end...post your comments on our guestbook!

Video
No video evidence was captured during the investigation.

Conclusion
It is the determination of the investigators that this location is haunted.  From the reports of the clients to the evidence collected, everything points to an intelligent haunting.  However, even though there has been mischievous activity at times, it doesn't appear that the spirits are malevolent.  They seem to enjoy the family and they in turn, don't mind the spirits.

April 9 2011
High Ridge MO
Private Residence

This house was built in the 1960's and has a history of paranormal activity for over 30 years.  The clients have reported apparitions, shadow people, voices, unexplained sounds (for instance, the sound of a wheelchair being rolled across the floor above them) and missing or moved items.  Some of these reports date back to previous owners of the residence.
Personal Experiences
When first entering the residence on the walk through, the investigative team was skeptical of the claims.  Everything in the house seemed very normal.  There were no unusual EMF readings, etc.  However, once the clients left the premises, a different feeling came over the house.  Activity started before the lights were turned off.  A flashlight placed on the piano in the hallway started turning on & off by itself.  It then proceeded to continue to do this on command.  Questions posed led to a young boy (older than 10.)  Later in the evening, a similar incident occurred in the basement.  However, questioning here led to an older gentleman.  Of course, these findings cannot be proved.  A ball was placed on the floor in the child's playroom as a trigger object.  When the room had been void of any investigators for nearly 25 minutes, the ball moved by itself.  When watching the footage, one can see the ball getting pushed-not just starting slowly and picking up speed.  There were also feelings of being watched from a distance-especially in the basement.
Debunking
The claims of hearing voices could be attributed to sounds coming from the exterior of the house because of its close proximity to the street and other houses.
Audio
In this first clip, you will hear knocking, which happens twice.  The team was changing the tape in the video camera and the batteries in the Tri-Field meter when this occurred.  No one heard this at the time, and was only discovered when the audio was reviewed.  These knocking noises happened multiple times throughout the night and in different rooms in the house.

In this EVP, you will hear one of the investigators ask a question.  Immediately following, you will hear an answer, "yeah."  This is a direct answer to the question being asked, which rarely happens.

This EVP was captured in the basement, also during the same session as above.  It is a strange laugh, which was not any of the team members.

Video
In this first video clip you will see the trigger object, the ball, move on its own.  It had been sitting there for approximately 25 minutes before it rolled.  No one was near the room at the time, and the recorder is sitting in the door way of the bedroom.

This clip baffled the team members upon review.  At first it sounds like an investigator is coming down the hallway, steps into the room, knocks something over, and then leaves.  However, when we reviewed the time frame and what happens following, we discovered that the two investigators in the vicinity were seated in the living room, and the others were downstairs in the basement.  No one was up and moving, and we believe the reason we did not hear this movement was because the PX machine was going off and was loud enough to mask the noises.  It was the noise of something falling that caused the investigator to go into the room and discover that the ball had moved on its own, as witnessed in the above clip.

In this video, it is a short clip of some of the interaction we were having with the flashlight.  This went on for  about 15 minutes, with sometimes seeming to be answers to questions, and other times just random.

Conclusion
It is the opinion of the investigating team that this a haunted location.  There is the possibility of two spirits manifesting themselves: a young boy and an older man.  The entities are not malevolent and seem to just want to live with the owners in peace.  They seem to be playful and like pulling pranks on the clients.  No further action would be warranted unless the clients so choose.

June 10, 2011
Edina, MO
Private Residence

This house was built in the mid-1940's as a business with a private residence.  No historical information was available from the local historical society or the county courthouse.
Debunking
The clients claims included hearing voices, seeing shadows, having doors open and close on their own, hearing music playing, objects moving and having feelings of being watched.  It was determined that there were high amounts of EMF present on the lower floor of the residence, which was the same area that the clients were reporting seeing shadows and having feelings of being watched.  This exposure to high EMF could be contributing to some of of the feelings of uneasiness.  On the second floor of the location, there were some unusual spikes of EMF that the team were unable to determine the cause, but for the most part  EMF levels were normal.
Personal Experiences
One investigator had the feeling of being watched from the second floor of the residence throughout the evening.  Otherwise, the house was very quiet overall.
Evidence Captured
Many EVP's were captured on the second floor, with a few from the first floor.  In many cases the EVP's were intelligent and seemed to be interacting with the team, but from afar.  None were threatening or menacing in nature.

In this EVP, the investigators were sitting in the living room conducting an EVP session.  The recorder is placed in an upstairs loft area.  You will hear one of the investigators ask, "How long have you been gone?" in which you will hear a reply close to the recorder in the loft of a female saying, "Nice to meet you."  It has been amplified so that it is easier to hear the words.

This EVP gave us quite a start when it was discovered.  This was once again during the EVP with the team in the living room and the recorder placed in the loft.  The investigator asks, "Didn't you have a bar upstairs?  Did you go have some drinks up there..." at which point she gets interrupted by another female voice who very loudly says "We had a good ol' time!" followed by something else that we could not decipher.

This was hard for the team to share, but shows the intelligent nature of what we captured.  The clients believed that one of their loved ones who had passed might be  visiting them.  So we addressed this individual during one of the EVP sessions.  One investigator asked, "Do you miss your friends?"  There are two parts to this following the question.  First, you will hear the EVP response, which is a whispered, "yeah."  Second, at the same time, the team saw a spike on the K2 , and they respond to it.  Upon reviewing the audio and discovering the EVP, it almost seemed as if they are having a conversation.

In this final EVP, we once again showcase the interaction between the investigation team and the spirits in the home.  As the team was setting up equipment to begin on the second floor, you will hear one of the team members ask where to place a piece of equipment.  Apparently the resident entities had an opinion on the matter, as a female voice chimes in with, "Right there!"

Video
No video evidence was captured during the investigation.
Conclusion
It is the opinion of the investigating team that this is a haunted location.  The entities are not malevolent and seem to just want to live with the owners in peace.  They seem to enjoy interacting with the living, but on their own terms.  No further action would be warranted unless the clients so choose.

June 24, 2011
Sedalia, MO
Undisclosed Business Location

This business is located in historical downtown Sedalia, MO.  The buildings in the block date from the 1870's and have been used for a variety of businesses through the years.  Fires destroyed much of the block on different occasions in the early 1870's.  There was evidence of this in the basement of the building that was investigated.  Detailed Sanborn maps were included in the clients' report.
Personal Experiences
Investigators heard voices and footsteps, feelings of being touched, sensing someone walking up behind them, etc.  Three investigators described one of the rooms darkening to a pitch blackness that totally obscured their vision.  Also, it felt as if there were suddenly many people in the room.  At this time, one of the investigators started feeling ill.  One unusual occurrence was an object that seemed to have moved and blocked the investigators' path after an EVP session.  However, the team members were not able to capture the event with evidence.
Debunking
Several different anomalous sounds were heard during the investigation.  Some of these coincided with claims by the clients.  However, due to the proximity of the business to the street and railroad tracks, it is apparent that many of these sounds can be accounted for.
Audio
This EVP was captured during an EVP session on the 2nd floor of the building.

This EVP is of an unknown female voice, which we were not able to make out what she was saying.  This was also captured on the 2nd floor.

This EVP was captured during an initial walkthrough in the 2nd floor, where the lead investigator was attempting to make contact with any spirits.  You will hear him ask for help in finding his way, and at the very end, a women responds very quickly with what we believe is, "I'll find you."

The last EVP was also captured during the same time, and you will hear a woman's voice very quickly before one of our investigators speaks.  We believe she says, "You're not trying."

Video
No video evidence was captured.
Conclusion
The team feels there is paranormal activity at this location, but is mostly residual in nature.  There doesn't appear to be any malevolent activity present and the clients can continue their daily business operations.

July 9, 2011
Grain Valley
Private Residence

The residence is in a newer subdivision and the occupants have lived there since 2008.  There is not much historical background of the area.  However, a teen who once lived in the house was killed in an auto accident in 2006.  Whether this has any bearing on the activity is pure speculation.  Baseline EMF readings were low to normal.
Debunking
Sound travels through this house very easily due to the construction and location.  Sounds from outside and within the house can be heard throughout.  The I-70 highway is also close by.  This provided numerous recording problems during the investigation.  Because of these issues, some of the sounds and voices claimed to be heard by the clients could be extraneous noise.
Audio
This EVP was captured during an EMF sweep of the home.  You will hear one of the investigators talking about an outlet in the bathroom cycling, and during his pause, you will hear a whisper.  They did not hear this at the time, and we believe it says, "oh my, oh my."

This EVP was also captured in the bathroom.  You will hear the investigators talking in the background, but you will also hear whispering closer to the recorder.  These voices whispering were not any of the team members, and it goes on for quiet some time.

Video
No video evidence was captured.
Conclusion
Because of the evidence collected and a few personal experiences, the team believes there is some paranormal activity present.  However, it is benign and poses no threat to the occupants.  The can continue with their normal routine.

August 20
Lee's Summit
Private Residence

This case was first investigated by the TAPS team from Arkansas when this family lived in Nixa, MO.  One of the children living in the home was born clinically dead, having no heartbeat for 9.5 minutes.  (The mother also didn't have a heartbeat for some time during the birthing process.)  Because of this, the daughter has permanent developmental damage and many physical & mental issues.  There have been instances where she has described events that she should have no knowledge of and speaking with unseen entities.  The father has emotional issues due to a traumatic brain injury and dealing with his daughter's health issues.  In fact, this has shaken his religious beliefs to the core.  There have been reports of shadow people, objects being moved, mechanical failures, hearing conversations and witnessing apparitions of a little girl and a man dressed in overalls.  The father has reported being attacked (scratches, etc.)  The clients said they recorded a "growl" during an EVP attempt and the other TAPS team captured on video what appears to be the father's hair being pulled.
PERSONAL EXPERIENCES
The investigators reported no personal experiences during the investigation.  The only unexplained occurrence was battery drainage of several pieces of equipment.
DEBUNKING
Please see conclusion below.
AUDIO
No audio evidence was captured.
VIDEO
No video evidence was captured.
CONCLUSION
Because of information garnered by our team psychologist during the investigation (which we cannot divulge), she and the team believe that much of the activity can be attributed to the mental state of the father and daughter.  It is our opinion that most of the events are not paranormal, but rather emotional in nature.   If there is any paranormal activity, it's being fueled by the emotional state of the occupants.  Perhaps with time and counseling, this home will have some peace.

October 1
Warsaw
Private Residence

This residence is in a trailer park where the occupants reported seeing apparitions, lights, things moving by themselves, hearing voices and feeling cold spots. The residence is in poor condition and is situated where there is a lot of vehicle and foot traffic.
PERSONAL EXPERIENCES
Other than general uncomfortableness because of the condition of the residence, the investigators had only one unexplained experience.  This was the smell of cigar smoke.  However, this could be attributed to air flow coming in from the outside.
DEBUNKING
Because of the location and condition of the premises, much of the outside noise filters in.  Lights from vehicles bounce off the walls and cause shadows.
AUDIO
No audio evidence was captured.
VIDEO
No video evidence was captured.
CONCLUSION
The investigators feel that there is not enough evidence to label any activity as paranormal.
